Many years ago, I declared my love for Instagram…that love continues to grow stronger. I might be a LITTLE biased when it comes to this social media platform, but…sorry not sorry.
Instagram and Snapchat are similar but different in many ways, one of them being the “Stories” feature. Big brands, bloggers, news outlets, celebrities, and millennials are discovering a new and stronger love for Instagram because of this new “stories” addition. Why? Here are my top 4 reasons why Instagram stories are better for engagement than Snapchat stories:
- Your audience is already established. Most brands have a considerable fan base on the platform, due to the broader demographic.
- Geo-filters and Lens-like features are not welcome. Instagram Stories allow you to only draw on, add text, and place emojis to photos and videos – for good reason. Instagram has a distinct, clean company image, providing brands and celebrities room to create their own styles. Snapchat’s goofy filters didn’t make the cut. The art features make it possible to still have fun with the app, but to a controlled amount.
- You can save and share your stories anytime. Yes, both Snapchat and Instagram stories disappear in 24 hours, as well as lets you save your stories to your phone’s camera roll, but Instagram allows a method to leave a lasting impression to your audience. With Instagram stories, you can save your story and make it into a permanent post on your profile for your audience to enjoy.
- Post publicly! This is a huge benefit for brands looking to gain the most exposure. Instagram stories, just like all Instagram posts, are public by default. This means even those who aren’t registered users of Instagram can see your entire story. Whereas, Snapchat only lets you view stories by accounts that you give permission to follow.
Opportunities are endless with Instagram stories! Try it out and revolutionize the way you share your “story” to the world.
